The Sending - Isobelle Carmody - New
Book 6 of the Obernewtyn Chronicles
The post-apocalyptic fantasy series takes a stunning turn! Award-winning Australian author Isobelle Carmody continues the epic story of Elspeth Gordie, a heroine in the vein of Tamora Pierce's most memorable and empowering protagonists.
The sixth book in The Obernewtyn Chronicles.
The time has come at last for Elspeth Gordie to leave the Land on her quest to find and stop the computermachine Sentinel from unleashing the deadly Balance of Terror arsenal. But before she can embark on her quest, she must find a lost key. And although she has long prepared for this day, nothing is as she imagined.
Elspeth's search will take her where she never thought to go, and bestow upon her stranger companions than any she thought to have. It will lead her far from her destination to those she thought lost forever.
And it will test her, as she has never been tested before…
"The Sending" details what happens when destiny at last comes calling for Elspeth--the Seeker of legend--and her faithful animal companions. Once shunned as a Misfit, Elspeth Gordie has found happiness and love in a world where such things are rare. But in the midst of planning a trip to the mysterious Red Land, Elspeth receives the long-awaited summons to leave all she loves. Now she must cross a range of toxic Blacklands to seek the help of a pack of dangerous human-hating wolves--for only these mutant beasts can lead her across the poisonous landscape, to the black road and the Beforetime city that haunt her dreams. Accepting the mission will cost her dearly. But to refuse--or to fail--is to condemn the world to a second apocalypse.
